About Us
The Jewish Digital Cultural Recovery Project Foundation, founded in 2019 by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference) and the Commission for Art Recovery (CAR), is based in Berlin, Germany. The foundation is creating and populating a central scalable digital data repository for archival source material on the cultural plunder conducted during the National Socialist regime. In addition to the data repository, the JDCRP digital platform includes research and education projects that demonstrate the use of archival material in reconstructing the theft, as well as recalling the lives and cultural contributions of European pre-WWII Jewry. State-of-the-art technology is supporting the development of cross-archival links and improved search capabilities across various databases on objects, owners, and perpetrators, thereby revealing for the first time the full scope of the plunder to the extent possible. The archival project uniquely targets both specialists and the general public.
Role Overview
The Project and Grant Development Officer will play a vital role in managing, submitting, and overseeing grants while ensuring compliance with funder requirements. This includes facilitating communication with donors, partner organizations, and internal teams to ensure alignment between project objectives, grant stipulations, and finances.
This role requires strong bilingual communication skills (German and English), with a background in fields such as art history, archives, or Holocaust studies being highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Donor and Partner Relations:
- Research and identify potential funding sources (public and private), initiating contact where appropriate.
- Help build and maintain relationships with existing and future donors, funders, and partner organizations in coordination with the Executive Board.
- Prepare and organize relevant internal and external meetings with foundation entities, donors, and partner organizations.
- Provide updates to the Executive Board and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain detailed records of donor interactions and transactions.
Grant Development and Administration:
- Collaborate with the Executive Board and team to design, plan, and submit grant applications.
- Act as the primary liaison with grant administrators, ensuring smooth communication and compliance.
- Monitor grant goals and deadlines, ensuring timely submission of reports and any necessary adjustments.
- Plan and oversee the work required for submissions, reporting, and communication with funders and partners.
Project Oversight:
- Ensure alignment between project activities and grant objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Regularly review progress and report to the Board, recommending mid-term adjustments if necessary.
- Facilitate collaboration between project leads and the Foundation’s finance officer to ensure budget compliance.
Internal Development:
- Support the Executive Board with administrative tasks related to strategic planning and organizational growth.
- Ensure internal operations meet grant requirements and support the JDCRP’s mission.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in grant writing, development, and project administration in a non-profit or similar sector.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a small team where collaboration and initiative are key.
- Bilingual fluency in English and German, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Holocaust studies, art history, or archival research is highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Collaborative and proactive work style, with a commitment to integrity and transparency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with grant management software and tools.

Role Overview
The Junior Financial Assistant will work closely with the Head of Finance and Administration to assist with financial tasks, administrative duties, and documentation. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient financial management and compliance across JDCRP’s projects and operations.
Responsibilities
Administrative and Documentation Support
- Organize and maintain financial records, both digital and physical.
- Assist in preparing documentation for audits, tax filings, and compliance reviews.
- Help ensure proper filing and archiving of invoices, reports, and financial correspondence.
Invoicing and Financial Operations
- Process and verify invoices for accuracy, ensuring they meet compliance requirements.
- Assist in tracking project expenditures and reconciling accounts.
- Support the preparation of monthly financial reports and budget forecasts.
Data Gathering and Reporting
- Gather financial data for grant applications, reports, and forecasting purposes.
- Assist with compiling information for funders and external stakeholders.
- Help in monitoring and documenting the use of grant funds.
General Support
- Assist with payroll preparation and tax-related tasks.
- Support the Head of Finance in liaising with accountants, auditors, and service providers.
- Perform ad hoc administrative tasks as needed to support financial operations.
Qualifications
- Enrollment in a university program in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Fluent in English (German proficiency is an advantage).
- A proactive and collaborative work style.

Role Overview
The Student Assistant will work closely with JDCRP’s IT and Data Officer, Research and Documentation Officer, and other Student Assistants, as part of the OCR Team. You will review and correct transcriptions of archival material, evaluate results, and safeguard quality according to the guidelines of the JDCRP. The goal of the OCR Team is to achieve the lowest possible error rate in transcriptions of archival documents and to continuously improve processes, guidelines, and documentation.
Responsibilities
Archival Documentation Support
- Review transcriptions of archival documents on looted cultural objects.
- Discuss findings with JDCRP’s IT and Data Officer as well as with the JDCRP’s Research and Documentation Officer.
Qualifications
- Interest in the field of cultural heritage, art history, and provenance research.
- University enrollment with student status.
- Grasp of complex information in a detail-oriented manner.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and in German.
- Ability to conduct tasks independently after a briefing and onboarding.
- A proactive and collaborative work style.
