Populating the Central Platform

The JDCRP will continue compiling and linking data from relevant European archives into its central platform. By offering expanded search options in various archives, the JDCRP platform will allow users to trace the cross-border journeys of artworks and other cultural objects stolen by the Nazis and their collaborators. This will enable new opportunities for users to gain a more comprehensive picture of the fate of objects.

The JDCRP Foundation is in the process of determining which archives to include in the next phase of data compilation. The foundation will reach out to individual archives to determine information such as the following: Degree of digitization, types of data, digital tools needed to harvest the data, available categories and forms of the data, ways to link to records, and the degree to which archive administrators can offer cooperation.

The JDCRP Foundation is additionally in the process of consultation with IT specialists to determine which tools can be used to best leverage and encourage a larger community of users. A goal of the central platform is to facilitate cross-referencing, identify commonalities in existing data sets, and increase searchability by creating where possible greater usage of standards and norms regarding names, dates, locations, and other key classifications.
